Established in the Rioja Oriental sub-zone of Rioja, deAlto is an unconventional producer of brilliant wines that aim to maximise the fruit potential of this great region.

Responding to the need for a more sustainable future, only the best grapes are hervested to produce deAlto wines are crafted by a team, led by Master of Wine Giles Cooke.

Having established a reputation for making some of Australia’s finest expressions of Grenache, Giles Cooke MW is now coming full circle to utilise his experience in the region that he first fell in love with.

With such a deep reserve of old vine Garnacha, the wines of deAlto focus on this variety with judicious use of old vine Tempranillo. Eschewing the conventional criteria in favour of a pursuit of place and purity, these wines are founded on fruit quality and respectful, low intervention winemaking. Using that same spirit of adventure, experimentation, creativity and commitment to sustainable wine production deAlto embraces a family of wines from across the country. Drawing on the revered, in-depth knowledge of Paul Shinnie and the technical skills of Marta Juega Rivera, the wines of deAlto offer a tantalising taste of contemporary Spain.
